Edge-Line Equine Dentistry is dedicated to improving the Caribbean Equine industry through the promotion of natural horsemanship. We believe in medicating equines strictly for pain or fear, and practice natural horsemanship first and foremost.
Our floating technique necessitates that we pay keen attention to each horse during treatment. In this way, the horse is able to communicate areas of pain, which we then address. This enables us to give each horse the best care based on their specific needs.
We acknowledge the individuality of each horse, and their pain threshold in order to provide the greatest relief with minimal stress on the animal; thereby preventing interruption of training.
Dr. Jaxson-Rei Heffes is an avid animal lover, with a particular fondness for horses. He studied at the University of Maryland where he obtained a B.Sc in Animal Science Horse Management. He received his Master’s in Animal Science Equine Reproductive Physiology at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and is a graduate of the Horsemanship Dentistry Program, in Palm City, Florida. Dr. Heffes recently graduated from the Veterinary Medicine programme in Trinidad & Tobago at the University of the West Indies and is currently licensed to practice in Jamaica.
